The Los Osos Community Services District invites all interested persons to attend Public Hearings on August 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. and September 2, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room, located at 2122 9th St. Suite 106, Los Osos, California, relative to the following:

CREATION OF A BOARD OF DIRECTORS DISTRICT-BASED ELECTORAL SYSTEM PURSUANT TO ELECTIONS CODE SECTION 10010

Public Hearings to receive community input on communities of interest, maps, and election sequencing for the formation of five Board of Directors districts for elections commencing with the General Election in November 2022.

The Board of Directors will discuss, consider, and take community input on the composition of potential Board of Directors election district boundaries, and such other matters as may be related to the formation of Board of Directors districts. Following the public hearings, draft maps of potential Board of Directors election district boundaries will be published, and additional public hearings scheduled. For more information, you are invited to contact Ron Munds, General Manager, at (805) 528-9370 or by email rmunds@losososcsd.org. Copies of the Staff Reports and any support materials will be available for public inspection in the District Office, 2122 9th Street Suite 110, Los Osos, California, or by visiting the District website at www.losososcsd.org. The Board of Directors may also discuss other hearings or business items before or after the item listed above. If you challenge the proposed action in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Board of Directors at, or prior to, the public hearing.

Drought and Water Conservation

“With California experiencing a second consecutive dry winter, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on April 21, 2021, several actions related to drought preparedness. Additional drought emergency proclamations were issued May 10, 2021 and July 8, 2021.“

This is a reminder that the Los Osos CSD Board of Directors Declared a Stage III Emergency of the District’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan.  We have been under this emergency declaration since 2015.  Stage III states our water usage allocation is 50 gallons per occupant per day based on a household of 3 occupants.  So that equates to 150 gallons per household per day.  If you look at your water bill, one unit (100 cubic feet) of water is equal to 748 gallons.

Here are some ways Los Osos residents can conserve water:

  • Take short showers instead of baths.
  • Turn off the water to brush teeth, shave and soap up in the shower.
  • Fill the sink to shave.
  • Repair leaky toilets, or replace with a dual flush or low flow toilet.
  • Only run the washing machine and dishwasher when you have a full load.
  • Use a low flow shower head and faucet aerators.
  • Fix leaks.
  • Don’t overwater your lawn or water during peak periods.
  • Monitor your landscape irrigation system
  • Monitor your water usage on your water bill.
