LOCSD has been contracting with CAL FIRE for Emergency Services since October of 2004
CAL FIRE Station 15-South Bay is your local fire station. Station 15 has primary responsibility for fires, medical aids, vehicle accidents, technical rescues, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters and public service assistance for residents throughout the Los Osos Community Services District, Turri Road, Clark Valley Road and for visitors throughout Montana de Oro and the Back Bay. As an entity of CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, Station 15-South Bay has exceptional support to maintain four personnel, with at least two serving as paramedics all day and night, 24-7.
The permanent Station 15-South Bay staff includes a 20-year veteran Battalion Chief, three Fire Captain/Paramedics, and five Engineer/Paramedics with a combined 85 years of paramedic and fire service experience. Together, these professionals continuously staff a paramedic fire engine (Medic Engine-15) and a paramedic rescue squad (Medic Squad-15). The Community of Los Osos is further supported by a committed reserve company known as the South Bay Reserve Firefighters.
The South Bay Reserve Company is comprised of 22 locals from the community that have successfully completed the San Luis Obispo County Paid-Call Firefighter Academy, They work together under the supervision of full-time personnel to cover 12 or 24 hour shifts. The South Bay Reserve Company will also respond from home or work to Station 15 in the event Medic Engine-15 or Medic Squad-15 are committed to an incident for an extended period of time or in the event of concurrent emergency incidents. Other equipment at Station 15-South Bay available for emergency response are: Engine-215, and Utility-15 (U15), Boat 15 rescue watercraft, and 4x4 Ford F250.
